S&T’s mission is to deliver effective and innovative insight, methods and solutions for the critical needs of the Homeland Security Enterprise. S&T conducts basic and applied research, development, demonstration, testing and evaluation activities relevant to DHS.

This position provides support to DHS S&T, as part of a team of high-performance professionals supporting the client's most vexing technical and technological challenges, and developing solutions to meet the next homeland security threats. In particular, the client requires expertise in soliciting, evaluating, and transitioning algorithms for image analysis, feature extraction, and risk analysis, all with interfaces amenable to a non-expert user.  The employee would also analyze and develop formal reports, briefings, and read-ahead materials, as well as organize/coordinate meetings, discussions, and seminars.  The position may require travel (limited- 6x/year).

  • Participate as the data science subject matter expert in meetings with client-organized teams to include scientific and non-scientific personnel
  • Study reports from a wider variety of projects and provide statistical interpretations of methodologies, conclusions, and readiness for subsequent formal (and often costly) testing and evaluation activities
  • Advise/review on the presentation of data standards

Qualifications

  • M.A./M.S. degree (experience may not substitute) in data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a closely related field
